Technique using retiring product

New at SU Blog Hop

Welcome to the New at SU Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators around the world who are sharing creative paper crafting ideas. Each month we are given a theme and we create a project representing that theme. Our April theme is showcasing a technique using retiring products. I have chosen to showcase the mirroring technique using the retiring stamp set Beauty Abounds, the retiring ink Rococo Rose and the retiring cardstock Seaside Spray. Let’s get started.

I first cut a square from the layering square dies (also retiring) on a 4 x 5-1/4 white cardstock. (higher than the center) Laid that piece on piece of white card stock. Using a blending brush (my new favorite tool) I swirled Rococo Rose from each corner toward the center, then filled the rest of the square to lightly fill in the rest of the square.

I then, using the Stamparatus, I stamped the butterfly in the center a few times to get the strength I wanted. This never would have been possible without the Stampartus!

Using the flourish and the Stamparatus I stamped the flourish in one corner with Night of Navy ink, then the opposite corner. Here comes the fun part! I placed the silicone mat on the Stamparatus and stamped the flourish a couple of times. Then, carefully aligning with the stamped flourish stamped it in the non stamped corners. Repeated this on the other opposite side.

It’s a little hard to explain, so I made a really short video… nothing fancy …..just enough so you get what I’m talking about. Sometimes you just have to see it done…. Right?

On one card, as you can see, I kept it simple, and I love the clean look.

I sort of goofed on the other card, so I made some changes. I layered a piece of DSP to a Soft Seafoam carton and cut a smaller square. I layered that over the image.

I finished the card using the large sentiment from the Pretty Perennials Stamp set (of course, mine is in French) and finished it off with a Night of Navy ribbon from the Playing with Patterns ribbon combo pack (which is also retiring). I am so glad that the Opal Rounds are coming back Yayyy!
